BizLink Launches Revolutionary OCuLink 4i R/A Pull-Tab Type Connector

BizLink, a global leader in interconnect solutions, is pleased to announce its innovative new easy-release Pull-Tab OCuLink 4i R/A connectors, which feature breakthroughs in ease-of-use and compactness. The new design saves installation and maintenance time and cost, and can greatly reduce user frustration and avoid RMA issues. BizLink’s customers faced many challenges using normal OCuLink 4i R/A connectors in their projects. The latch design of the ordinary OCuLink connectors made them difficult to release, particularly when adjacent to device chassis or case structure, walls, or internal components. In addition, the normal-sized 16.5mm OCuLink connectors were often slightly too wide to be fitted side-by-side, while 2-in-1 connectors also have plugging and unplugging problems. All these issues can annoy users, waste time, reduce device flexibility, and may even cause costly component and cable damage when connectors are violently pulled out or forced into place.

Pull-Tab design sets new standards for ease-of-use

In response to numerous customer requests BizLink researched improvements that could be made to the normal OCuLink connector design while still exceeding industry standards for affordability and performance. BizLink’s first innovation is a revolutionary pull-tab design which solves multiple difficulties and makes the removal of the OCuLink connector quick and easy. On most release latches, the release of the latch requires the operator to push the tab forward; pulling the tab backwards usually locks in the connector. This design difficulty was overcome by BizLink, enabling the connector latch to release when it is pulled backwards. The key feature of the design is that combines the actions of releasing the latch and pulling the connector off in one smooth motion that only requires the user to pull an easy-to-grasp tab upright, instead of fumbling with a tiny and difficult-to-reach latch.

Ultra fit connectors solve side-by-side issues

As well as fundamentally rethinking the release mechanism, BizLink’s engineers also slimmed the OCuLink connectors down from the common 16.5mm size to BizLink’s new ultra fit size of just 15.35mm. The narrower OCuLink connectors provide enough clearance to avoid issues when fitting side-by-side and therefore avoids any of the fitting problems associated with 2-in-1 OCuLink connectors.

While it may seem simple to just add a pull-tab to the connector, the new pull-tab design was only turned into a practical product by BizLink’s engineers after the resolution of many manufacturing difficulties.
