BizLink, a global leader in interconnect solutions, is proud to announce the release of its new QSFP DAC series passive copper cables for modern, high-speed data centers. Available in speeds of up to 100Gbps, BizLink’s DAC series cables deliver cost-effective passive copper assembly at lengths of up to five meters. Such short-distance cables are ideal for linking servers with storage and switch infrastructure in data center rack deployments. QSFP series cables play a key role within a complete data center solution, alongside power cables, internal data cables, and external data cables – all of which BizLink offers.
A Better Option for Data Scaling
According to Cisco, global data center IP traffic continues to compound at an annual rate of 27 percent. Telecom and datacom companies, with their need for ever-increasing storage, compute, and networking resources, draw ample attention, but the reality is that most types of enterprise data centers bear similarly increasing traffic. Connectivity standards must race to stay ahead of demand. When 40 GbE and 100 GbE standards arrived in 2010, they seemed almost excessive. In today’s data centers, where real-time analysis and responsiveness are essential, 100 GbE is often a prerequisite for doing business.
While active optical cabling can span distances of up to 100 meters (300 feet), data centers need far less of this capability than they do of making the short hops between components in the same or adjacent racks. BizLink DAC passive copper cables provide a proven means to link systems and resources in 40 Gbps and 100 Gbps applications, delivering the speed of short-range optical without the optical cabling and fiber transceiver costs.
BizLink QSFP DAC series cables come in both QSFP+ (4 x 10 Gbps) and QSFP28 (4 x 28 Gbps) varieties. All models feature 100 Ohm impedance and aggregate the throughput of four copper pairs to enable 40 Gbps or 100 Gbps (depending on the model) InfiniBand and Ethernet support. Specific models support transmission distances of up to three, four, or five meters.
Additionally, BizLink QSFP28 DAC cables feature eight copper pairs, offering four data channels per cable at speeds of up to 28 Gbps per channel. This meets 100G Ethernet (IEEE 802.3bj) and InfiniBand Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) requirements. BizLink 100G copper cabling features a unique construction with individually wrapped QSFP28 twinaxial cables, resulting in low insertion loss and low crosstalk. BizLink QSFP DAC cabling products come in both 1-to-1 or 1-to-4 fanout varieties. The breakout option will be particularly attractive in data center environments where switch port availability is scarce and rack resource connections are dense.
BizLink Innovation and Quality
The quality variance between cables and their manufacturing can be significant. BizLink blends power efficiency with high port bandwidth to deliver a broadly useful connectivity solution that is hot-pluggable, RoHS compliant, and SFF-8665 compliant. BizLink engineers put all DAC series cables through stringent quality control testing to assure the lowest possible electrical crosstalk and highest performance. Using custom tools based on protocols and firmware designed in-house, BizLink R&D specialists conduct extensive testing batteries across all cables to ensure functionality and compatibility across all designated industry standards and major data center platforms.
