Legal Project Manager

We are seeking a Legal Project Manager to manage complex, cross-border (Taiwan/US) legal disputes for our manufacturing operations. This role involves end-to-end case management, including overseeing external counsel, directing e-Discovery, managing budgets, and conducting contract risk reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage a wide range of dispute resolution matters within a manufacturing context, including civil/criminal litigation, arbitration, product liability, supply chain disputes, and intellectual property cases.
  • Manage legal cases as projects by establishing case maps, timelines, budgets, and KPIs, and report regularly to senior management.
  • Lead cross-border dispute management (Taiwan/US), which includes:
  • Appointing and managing external counsel to ensure strategic alignment and cost-effectiveness.
  • Planning and executing e-Discovery and evidence preservation processes (litigation holds, data collection, etc.) in compliance with data transfer regulations.
  • Handling procedural matters such as jurisdiction, protective orders, and subpoenas.
  • Develop legal response plans for product and supply chain disputes, including defects, recalls, warranty claims, and supply interruptions.
  • Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and operations teams on intellectual property and trade secret matters, including infringement assessment, evidence gathering, and seeking remedies.
  • Perform non-negotiation contract reviews focused on risk control, maintaining standard clauses, and ensuring the enforceability of dispute-related terms.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between Legal, Finance, Procurement, R&D, and other departments to drive effective decision-making.
  • Maintain a knowledge base of judgments and case precedents.
  • Accommodate meetings across different time zones and be available for potential short-term international travel.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in litigation, dispute resolution, or case management.
  • Proven experience managing cross-border cases (Taiwan/US), with a strong understanding of civil litigation, arbitration, e-Discovery, and evidence preservation workflows.
  • Fluency in both English and Mandarin (oral and written) is required to interact effectively with US external counsel and navigate legal proceedings.
  • Excellent project management, cross-functional communication, crisis management, and precise legal writing skills, with the ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Ability to independently review contracts to identify and mitigate risks (note: commercial negotiation is not part of this role).
  • Legal experience in manufacturing industries (e.g., semiconductor, electronics, automotive components) is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with trade compliance (EAR, ITAR, sanctions) and data protection frameworks (Taiwan PIPL, CCPA, GDPR) is a strong asset.
  • Admission to the US or Taiwan bar is a plus.
