DisplayPort is a new digital display interface standard put forth by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA). DisplayPort will be the next generation digital interface designed to replace VGA, LVDS and DVI. With a unified internal and external display interface it addresses emerging PC requirement with reduced complexity and scalable performance in terms of resolution, color depth and refresh rate over fewer wires.

Features

  • Technology: DisplayPort consists of 4 main links, one Auxiliary channel and one Hot-plug signal line.
  • Main Link: AC-coupled, doubly terminated differential pairs (lanes) with a Rate of 2.7Gbps giving a capacity of 10.8Gbps per 4 lanes.
  • DisplayPort Content Protection: DPCO provides AES type high speed 128-bit content encryption with secure modern ciphers.
  • DP Power: With more than 1.5W both on source and sink, connector powered dongles are possible at both ends.
  • Cable Assembly: Support for full bandwidth over 3 meter of cable, and a max of 1080p resolution at 24bpp, 50/60Hz over a 15 meter cable.
     

Dual-Mode DisplayPort (DP++) signals

Dual-mode DisplayPort (DP++) is defined by VESA to be able to switch to single-link HDMI and DVI signals when it detects a DVI or HDMI passive adapter. This passive adapater is a simple voltage shifter, and we carry both DP++ to DVI and DP++ to HDMI versions.

DisplayPort to VGA Adapter Cable

Connect a DisplayPort Enabled Computer to a VGA (HD-15) Monitor, TV or Projector

The DisplayPort to VGA cable adapter enables the connection of your DisplayPort supported computer to a VGA (HD-15) supported monitor or other VGA display. It supports VGA resolutions of up to 1920x1200 (WUXGA), 60Hz and is simple to setup and easy to use. Connect the DisplayPort end of the connector to your computer and plug your existing VGA cable from the monitor into the VGA adapter. Setup is complete. The circuitry built into the DisplayPort to VGA cable adapter seamlessly converts the DisplayPort's video signal into a crystal clear VGA video signal.

The DisplayPort to VGA cable adapter requires no external power. It is designed to use the power provided through the DisplayPort connection and features a power-saving standby mode. The power-saving standby mode is initiated through the DisplayPort source or based on the monitor¡¦s (sink) status, which is automatically detected by the adapter. Standby mode reduces power consumption when the adapter is not in use and is ideal for energy conservation.

Connectors

The DisplayPort connector has an optional latching feature to prevent ”cable fall-off? With its 20-pin it also include a mulit-purpose power pin, this power pin is intended to enable an active dongle for extending the cable length or enable a legacy converter for interoperability. BizLink manufacture these connectors for cable assemblies and dongles. These connectors are: Cable mount with or without latches. Board mount DIP type and Board mount SMT type with flange.
